A Fijian has died on peacekeeping duties in Sinai in the Middle East.
Military Land Force Commander Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga confirms the incident happened in the last 24 hours.
However, the RFMF is still trying to ascertain the circumstances around the death.
“We’ve had an unfortunate incident in the last 24 hours, one of our junior NCO’s has passed away in the operation, we cannot reveal the name at the moment, because families and relatives have to be informed first. Autopsy is being carried out now in Israel, we will get the full report once that is compeleted. Our condolences to the family and will await the remains of our soldier to come back and will give him full military honours for the contributions not only to the RFMF but also to the nation.”
There are about 600 Fijians on peacekeeping duties in Sinai.
